Our Green Team at Chaparral Elementary School was started by Whitney Schwartz, an environmentalist when her children attended our school. Since then our Plant Manager, Mr. Jim, and various teachers have continued the team. We lead a group of about 15 children through the school year to implement environmental initiatives such as saving single use lunch trays to be used in our art class, collecting dried markers for the Crayola Colorcyle program, and having a booth each year at our Farmer’s Market where we do recycled crafts and teach about the 3 R’s. We were given the globe during one of our meetings from Ms. Schwartz and we all pledge to say no to single use plastics. We also pledge to continue to collect trays and uneaten food to reuse and to donate to the homeless population in Los Angeles.
Together we can make a change!
